Challenges
- Implement Marriott’s booking logic and ensure the site communicates with the external booking system.
- Display the restaurants’ menu in a visually appealing and interactive way.
- Create a floating call-to-action (CTA) for booking with an interactive experience.
Solutions
- Integrated the booking link and system functionality while maintaining design integrity, ensuring seamless interaction between the WordPress site and Marriott’s platform.
- Created a custom post type for the restaurants’ menu, allowing dynamic addition of items and sections. The menu displays inside a modal using AJAX, providing a smooth, seamless experience without page reloads. Additionally, there’s an option to link to a PDF menu for easy content management.
- Developed a GSAP-driven interactive floating CTA that rotates automatically, changes rotation direction based on scroll, and accelerates with scroll speed. Clicking the CTA opens a modal with a Lottie animation triggered on opening, creating a playful yet functional user experience.
My Role
This project involved building a fully custom WordPress theme for the Sol Cypress Hotel, a vibrant Tribute Portfolio property in San Antonio. The goal was to reflect the hotel’s “come-as-you-are” spirit, combining escape, excitement, and social energy, while providing a seamless user experience for guests. The website blends dynamic design, interactive features, and performance-focused development to capture the hotel’s lively personality and make booking and exploring the property effortless.
As the Front-End Developer, I translated Adobe XD designs into a custom WordPress theme using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for flexible content management. I ensured pixel-perfect responsiveness, strong accessibility following WCAG 2.0 standards, and performance optimization for a media-rich site.
I implemented GSAP animations and microinteractions to enhance engagement and integrated the hotel’s booking system to communicate seamlessly with Marriott’s platform. I also contributed SEO best practices and Google Analytics tracking to improve visibility and user insights.
