- Created structured templates with consistent typographic hierarchy and modular layouts to accommodate member submissions, board minutes, and highlights without overwhelming the reader.
- Developed a companion website with a dynamic grid, linked via QR codes in the newsletter, allowing readers to access detailed information digitally while keeping the print layout clean.
My Role
As the Graphic Designer, I volunteered my time to design and produce the Viking Times, a monthly newsletter for the Swedish Vallhund Club of America. The publication required careful layout of dense content including club member submissions, “brags,” and official board minutes, while maintaining readability, consistency, and visual appeal. The cover design was a key focus — a minimal, modern black-and-white Swedish Vallhund highlighted by the Swedish national colors, with a yellow sun and rays extending down the page and a blue accent to balance the composition.
Each issue was designed in Adobe InDesign, emphasizing hierarchy, clean layouts, and visual engagement. I developed a system to display titles earned by Swedish Vallhunds and their owners: a companion website featuring a grid for each issue, accessible via a custom branded QR code included in the newsletter. This approach connected the print and digital experiences while providing members with an easy way to explore achievements.
